Record de greutate pentru o tomată Beefsteak la SCDL Buzău

O tomată din soiul Beefsteak a stabilit un nou record la Stațiunea de Cercetare-Dezvoltare pentru Legumicultură (SCDL) Buzău, cântărind nu mai puțin de 1.220 de grame, depășind astfel greutatea precedentă de 1.100 de grame înregistrată în 2023. Informația a fost confirmată de agenția de presă Agerpres.

Specialiștii de la SCDL Buzău afirmă că obținerea unei greutăți mai mari la tomate se poate realiza prin diverse metode, cum ar fi reducerea numărului de fructe pe plantă, utilizarea procedeelor de altoire sau aplicarea de îngrășăminte. Expertul Elena Barcanu a subliniat că scopul este de a depăși recordurile existente, amintind că cea mai mare tomată din Europa a cântărit 3,5 kilograme, iar recordul mondial este de 5,5 kilograme.

În 2024, SCDL Buzău a cultivat peste 120 de soiuri de tomate, inclusiv soiuri hibride. Printre cele mai populare soiuri se numără Siriana, care oferă o producție bună și are fructe cu coacere uniformă, precum și soiul Inima de bou și Andrada, care produce fructe cu forma caracteristică și greutăți de până la 500 de grame.
