Meghan Markle Wears Princess Diana’s Earrings for a Red Carpet Date Night With Prince Harry - Vogue

West Northamptonshire to Montecito, and now British Columbia. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped out yesterday evening (August 7) for a fundraising gala held for the David Foster Foundation. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex wore matching monochromatic looks for their rare red carpet date night—Meghan made it even more special by pairing her sleek black dress with a pair of earrings that once belonged to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. Meghan—who recently celebrated her 45th birthday—paired the diamond and sapphire earrings with a black one-shoulder draped dress made by Canadian designer Greta Constantine. Harry, meanwhile, opted for a black tuxedo and bow-tie. Meghan relied on her usual glamorous event glam, wearing her hair pulled back into a neat bun, with warm blush, and bronzed smoky eye, and nude glossy lip. The couple posed on the red carpet with Foster and Katharine McPhee, longtime friends. (Meghan Markle and McPhee are also childhood friends.) The royal has previously worn Diana’s earrings; she owns several pieces of jewelry from Diana’s personal collection, including her butterfly earrings and matching cuff bracelet, a diamond tennis bracelet, her Cartier Tank Louis, and Diana’s iconic aquamarine ring (also known widely as her “divorce ring”), which Meghan wore on her wedding day in 2018. Many of the pieces have been worn during some of the couple’s most poignant moments: Meghan wore Diana’s diamond cross necklace when the couple visited Nigeria in 2024 for the Invictus Games, which Diana had worn to visit the country in 1990. The Duchess of Sussex recently shared a series of photos to her Instagram that documented just some of their trip to the UK. Posted on July 23 and captioned “Summer Holiday,” one image shows Harry, seven-year-old Archie, and five-year-old Lilibet walking down a tree-lined path at Althorp estate, the ancestral home of the Spencer family and where Princess Diana grew up. Over the last few months, we’ve mostly seen Harry and Meghan on solo engagements, or else, more casually on Meghan’s IG. (But back in May, Meghan shared some never-before-seen imagery from their wedding day to mark their anniversary.) They have both been busy promoting Cookie Queens—the Sundance-premiered documentary executive produced by their company Archewell productions, which follows the highs and lows of Girl Scout Cookie season. When enjoying more glamorous nights out, the couple keep to more pared back, classic styles: Harry usually in a plain black suit, Meghan in sleek tailoring or LBDs. It won’t be long before they’re back in their Montecito linens and stripes, we’re sure of it.
